I’m a busy grad student balancing work, homework, trying to make it to barre class, striving to eat healthy, and still make time to see my friends. After a year of regular barre classes, and a healthy vegetarian diet, I was struggling to lose the 15 pounds I had gained from medication. When I first started working with Amy, I wanted to learn about nutrition, lose the weight I had gained, and figure out the connection between food and mood. After a few sessions, I noticed that I cared less about the specific weight loss goal, and more about finding happiness by the choices I make in my life that support my overall wellbeing. One of my favorite exercises that Amy had me do was to make a Pinterest vision board. This exercise helped me replace the negative association I had with social media by filling my screen time with beautiful and positive images that inspired me.
I loved working with Amy and am forever grateful to her for coaching me to see and understand the importance of self love and care.
How To Enjoy Food Again
I came to Amy to lose weight and feel better about my body. While working with Amy, my goals started to shift away from seeing weight loss as a destination, and moving towards a healthy and sustainable lifestyle where I got to enjoy food, wine, and social time without feeling stressed about dieting. One of the best experiences of working with Amy were the custom guided meditations she did on most calls. Amy taught me to feel compassion for the parts of my body I had previously hated, by thinking about the real purpose of the body parts, and all the things going on behind the scenes in my body. This simple shift in perspective has helped me appreciate my body on a whole new level.
Finding Ultimate Well-being!
I am a thirty-something guy with crazy work schedule, and a stable and loving home environment. When I came to Amy, my wife and I wanted to start a family, and I had a vision of myself as a fit and active dad. There was just one problem. All of the stress from my work schedule was making it impossible to realize this vision. It was hard to find time to exercise, sleep, and eat well. I was basically willing to try anything to lose weight and make being active a way of life. I had tried various methods of dieting in the past, but wasn’t able to get back to my previous level of fitness I had during my 20’s. In my first session with Amy, I didn’t think I was doing anything right, but Amy was able to show me my own level of self awareness and positivity. I began to see those qualities as assets for my ultimate well-being. In our final session, I was amazed by how far I had come. Not only had I lost weight, but for the first time in my life, I felt in-control of my health. The peace of mind I received from working with Amy was invaluable.
A Customized Plan To Meet My Post-Surgery Needs
I started working 1:1 with Amy after having reconstructive foot surgery. I was looking for a way to maintain my fitness level as I recovered. Amy worked with me to create a tailored plan that suited my needs post-surgery. She really spent time to learn what my goals were, and to challenge me each week. As I progressed, Amy made sure the program continued to evolve so that I was always making progress. I really felt like she was a partner and we were invested together in my goals and the road to get there. Amy's positive energy and encouragement made a world of difference in my recovery. Amy's outlook is contagious, and I felt really good and healthy throughout my healing process. It is a real pleasure working with Amy and I would recommend her without question!
